4 Days Lhasa Tour from Chengdu by Flight

Overview:

Chengdu is one of the gateway cities to Tibet and provides numbers of flights and trains  to Tibet every day. After taking international flights from your home countries to mainland China, tourists can have a good rest in Chengdu, and then board a train or flight to Tibet.

This tour will lead you to explore the mysterious Lhasa city and its main attractions, like the grand Potala Palace, the Jokhang Temple and Sera Monastery. Just bring your package and join us.

Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Tibet from Chengdu

Today, your tour guide will pick you up to the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and help you to board a flight to Tibet with your Tibet Travel Permit.

Welcome to Tibet! After your arrival in Lhasa, you can find your Tibet Tour guide has already waited for you at the exit of the Lhasa Gongga Airport. Then transfer to your hotel in Lhasa city. You can view the Yarlong Tsangpo River and Lhasa River along the way to your hotel.

Have a good rest in your hotel to adapt the change of altitude. If you feel to go out, you can go to the Potala Square to have a small walk.

Day 2: Lhasa Tour

In the morning, your Lhasa tour begins. You will go to the grand Potala Palace. It stands in Lhasa more than 1300 years. The Potala Palace is the winter palace of the Dalai Lama, and it is also the political and religious center of Tibet. It is divided into the Red Palace and the White Palace which all collect Thangkas, Buddha statues, valuable wall paintings and other kinds of Buddhist works.

After lunch, you will visit the Jokhang Temple which is the holiest Buddhist temple in Tibet. The most valuable collection in this temple is the 12-year-old-like Shakyamuni statue. As a spiritual center of Tibet, Jokhang Temple is one of the holiest sites attracting hundreds of devoted Tibetans to make a pilgrimage. Please remember that don’t wear any hat or glasses inside the Tibetan monasteries.

In the late afternoon, you will go to the Barkhor Street which is very close to the Jokhang Temple. You can do kora with local Tibetans and drink a cup of sweet tea in a local tea house.

Day 3: Lhasa Tour

It is the third day in Lhasa. In the morning, you will first visit the Norbulingka Park which is the largest Tibetan garden and is also known as the summer palace of the Dalai Lamas. Then you will visit the Drepung Monastery which is the school of the Dalai Lamas. The monastery once was the house for over 10000 monks in the history. Different kinds of Buddhist rituals are held in this monastery. Besides, you can visit the largest monks’ kitchen inside the monastery.

In the afternoon, you will explore the Sera Monastery with over six hundred years old. The monastery is famous for the monks’ debate from 3 pm to 5 pm.

Day 4: Lhasa Departure

After breakfast, your tour guide will transfer you to the airport and help you board a flight successfully.
